Introducing: The True Neighbor Podcast

We are incredibly excited to announce the launch of our new podcast, The True Neighbor Podcast (inspired by this quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.). Each episode will feature someone on the front lines of the COVID-19 response effort—public officials, teachers, nurses, small business owners, students, physicians, coaches, cashiers, and postal workers, to name a few. They are the true heroes, and their stories of hope and courage deserve to be told.

The True Neighbor Podcast is also available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

The True Neighbor Podcast: Episode 16

Few people can offer insights on the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic here in Central PA like Dr. Thomas Pineo, a physician who has devoted his career to the world of Hospital Medicine and is one of the founding members of the Hospitalist program at UPMC in Harrisburg.
In this episode, we discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected Central Pennsylvania; the inequalities of our healthcare system and how they are inextricably intertwined with the inequalities of our economy; and whether we will ever truly return to the pre-COVID world.
Dr. Pineo has thought deeply about the healthcare system and his role within it. We would be wise to adopt his vision for the future of American healthcare.

The True Neighbor Podcast: Episode 15

Tom is joined by renowned author and columnist, Edward Luce, to discuss America’s response to globalization, why democracy is at risk around the world, and Ed’s latest book, The Retreat of Western Liberalism.

The True Neighbor Podcast: Episode 14

The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified what were already massive racial inequalities in the United States.

In this episode, I speak with Clovis Gallon, a special education teacher and basketball coach at York High School. We discuss the impact that the pandemic has had on public education, particularly in economically depressed areas; the importance of mentorship; racism in the Trump era; and the impact that basketball has had on Clovis’s life.
