Among the victims in Monday morning’s townhouse fire in Derry Township is 10th District congressional candidate Tom Brier.
Brier, a 28-year-old Hershey native, attorney and author who is seeking the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House district covering all of Dauphin and parts of Cumberland and York counties, said he was awakened by the frantic barking of his dog, a Siberian Husky named Dawkins, around 4:15 a.m.
